Sure Start Lisburn

Parent and Child Programmes

This is an informal group open to all Dads, Grandparents, Uncles and male carers involved in a child's life.  We meet once a month in various locations around the Lisburn area giving opportunities to engage in lots of activities with your child.  Some activities that we have provided are football training sessions, pumpkin carving workshops, woodwork sessions, outdoor play and many more.  This is facilitated by our Dads worker and the early years team.  Why not come along and meet like minded Dads/Carers in the community.

Come along to our walking groups that typically run across 6 weeks, to get outdoors and enjoy nature while getting your steps up!  This is a parent and child programme that meets in parks within the Lisburn area.  Sure Start Family team members are on hand to chat with parents and lead the group along a child-friendly route.  Appropriate families with children aged 0 - 4 years old.

This is a weekly run relaxed informal drop-in program held at our three venues - 9 Market Place, Laganview Enterprise Centre and Hillhall Community Resource Centre.  These programs are facilitated by our Early Years and Family team.  Each week the room is set up with age-appropriate activities to promote a readiness to learn through an arrangement of messy play, craft activities, story and rhyme time, healthy snacks and plenty of opportunities to play freely allowing each child to develop at their own pace.  Our skilled team are on hand to support you and your child.

This is a 6 week sensory play program.  This program is delivered by an early years and family work team member.  Together with the excellent experience and skills of our team we can deliver a very rich and stimulating learning experience for the children.  Sensory play is more than just messy play.  Did you know that it helps build connection in the brain?  Yes you heard right.  We at Sure Start are creating little thinkers, problem solvers and decision makers.  Physical development of the gross and fine motor skills.  Sensory play benefits also builds on language development, expressive communication, social interactions and creativity.

These seasonal events allow for us in the whole of Sure Start to come together within the community to connect and enjoy a range of seasonal fun filled activities.  These would include summer outings and parties.  At some events we would invite some local entertainment into our events.  All registered families are welcome to attend.
